The Plumb House Museum

Waynesboro, Virginia

A short stroll from downtown, the Plumb House Museum stands as the oldest frame structure in Waynesboro. It was built during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson later found itself in the middle of the Civil War Battle of Waynesboro in March of 1865. The historic museum currently houses Civil War and Native American artifacts as well as everyday household items from the era. Visitors can learn about the Plumb family who owned the house for five generations.

Parking is available behind the museum. The City of Waynesboro purchased this home and the Waynesboro Heritage Foundation operates the museum.

Important: Due to limited volunteers: The Plumb House Museum may not be open during normal operating hours. If you wish to visit and the museum is not open during normal hours please call 540-943-3943 and we will try our best to send the Heritage Museum attendant to show the Plumb House. The Waynesboro Heritage Foundation is currently seeking volunteers for the Plumb House, if interested please contact the museum.
Both Museums are CLOSED on Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, and July 4th.
